September Proclaimed Arizona’s Salsa Trail® Month by Governor Jan Brewer
Safford, AZ.– Arizona Governor, Jan Brewer, proclaimed September 2009 as Arizona’s Salsa Trail® Month. Arizona’s Salsa Trail® is a year-round culinary tourism destination in southeast Arizona. The Trail is all about terrific Mexican food and down-home friendliness in the small Southern Arizona communities of Safford, Pima, Thatcher, Solomon, Clifton, Duncan, Willcox, and York. Along the Salsa Trail® are thirteen family owned Mexican food restaurants, a tortilla factory, and a chile pepper farm. See the Proclamation online at www.SalsaTrail.com.
The Salsa Trail® was created by the Graham County Chamber of Commerce with the support of the Arizona Office of Tourism to promote regional tourism. The Governor’s proclamation recognizes that the Salsa Trail has significantly contributed to the economy of Graham County and the State of Arizona. Businesses throughout Graham County have seen the benefit of the Salsa Trail.
In the proclamation, Governor Brewer recognized the 3rd annual Arizona SalsaFest which takes place on the Safford Town Square September 25th and 26th. The SalsaFest will have salsa making contests, a festival marketplace, salsa music & dancing, food demonstrations, a kid’s corner, jalapeno & salsa eating competitions, Balloon Glow, tethered hot air balloon rides, a raffle, and prizes! The SalsaFest is a spicy, tasty, and affordable family fun festival!
Arizona’s Salsa Trail, the book, was commissioned by the Graham County Chamber of Commerce and will be unveiled at this year’s SalsaFest. Rich with photography and edited by former Arizona Highways Editor Robert J. Early, Arizona’s Salsa Trail is all about the Salsa Trail food venues, recipes, destinations, and regional activities like visiting farms, museums, parks, tours, scenic drives, bird watching, and backcountry spots. Readers will also learn about Graham County’s culture and people through the recipes and things to. Books will be available at www.SalsaTrail.com, and at select bookstores throughout Arizona.
