VIEW Hotel NOW OPEN inside Monument Valley

Monument Valley Tribal Park -  The first hotel ever to be built on Navajo Tribal Park land is now open inside Monument Valley.  Aptly named, every guestroom in The VIEW looks directly at one of the most famous landscapes in the world.  These are the iconic formations of Monument Valley: the Mittens - left thumb, right thumb, and the third monolith Merrick Butte, rising to the right – so close you feel like you can reach out and touch them.

The VIEW Hotel is 100% family owned and operated - Armanda Ortega of the Kin’yaa’aanii (Towering House) Clan is proud of the unique opportunity that her family has to welcome visitors to a place of beauty and spiritual significance to the Navajo.  “It was with serious consideration that the Navajo Tribal Parks Department selected the location for The VIEW.  We are adjacent to the Park Visitors Center which has served tourists for over 50 years and we carefully designed the architecture of the hotel to conform to the beauty of the setting.  The VIEW is here to help people from all over the world see the beauty, learn about our traditions, and to enjoy the hospitality of the Navajo people.  We are especially proud of the fact that the hotel was built by a workforce that was over 90% tribal members and we are creating over 100 full and part time jobs in an economy that has a dire need for employment.”

Every guestroom has a private balcony that faces the famous Monument Valley panorama and you can actually see four states from The VIEW - the formations in Utah stand to your left, the Mittens are in Arizona directly in front of you, and the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado rise in the distance.  The third floor StarView rooms combine the vista of the majestic formations with an unobstructed view of the stars above.  There are two “Sunset Balconies” on the second floor of the west side of the hotel where guests can sit, relax and watch as the setting sun drops behind the majestic Mitchell Butte.

The hotel lobby has a fireplace that is a massive two story cylinder of stone with ledges inhabited by large Native American Kachina dolls.  These colorful Kachinas seem to survey the spacious lobby and look out the window wall that faces the panorama of the Mittens.  This is one of the most remote locations in the country but every guestroom has the comforts today’s travelers look for – flat screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, wireless internet, and cable TV.  The hotel's store, the Monument Valley Trading Post offers authentic Native American handmade arts and crafts including a rug room that is overflowing with handmade Navajo rugs.  Dining is available in the Trading Post and the new VIEW Restaurant will open March 1. The high windows in the restaurant seem to invite the Mittens right into the dining room.  Reservations and information about The VIEW Hotel can be found at www.monumentvalleyview.com.
