MAY IS PAINTED BARRELS ARTIST MONTH IN THE VERDE VALLEY

The Talented Painted Barrel Artists will be participating in Artists Days Throughout May

Cottonwood, AZ – One of the most unique public art projects anywhere, the Painted Wine Barrels on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, connects the dots between the wineries, tasting rooms, and the scenic Verde Valley. Beginning April 29th and continuing throughout the month of May, the first official Artist Days month, visitors will also be able to connect with the artists who painted the wine barrels. The Verde Valley Wine Trail consists of four wineries and five tasting rooms spread throughout the communities of Cottonwood, Sedona, Camp Verde, Jerome, Cornville, and Clarkdale. The 40 Painted Barrels are on display at wineries, tasting rooms, and businesses throughout the Verde Valley.

Each weekend in May different Painted Barrel artists will be at their barrel locations doing demonstrations, meeting with fans, and selling their works of art. During these Artist Days, the Painted Barrel locations hosting their artist will be offering different specials and events, discounts, and the opportunity to win prizes. Also, everyone who visits during the Painted Barrels Artist Days can fill out an entry form to be entered to win a grand prize package from the Verde Valley Wine Trail. Additional information and scheduled Artist Days can be found at www.vvwinetrail.com/artistdays.

“The Painted Barrel Artist Month is a great way for visitors to connect with the great wineries, small businesses and some of the most talented artists from the Verde Valley.” Lana Tolleson, Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce CEO, explained. “The Artist Days will allow the artists to showcase their talents and show off the inspiration for their amazing designs. The barrel hosts are excited to be part of these artist days and can’t wait to share the beauty of the Cottonwood, Sedona area with visitors.”

The Painted Barrels are more than good wine, art and fun – the barrels will be auctioned off and the proceeds will benefit the Yavapai College Viticulture Program, the first viticulture program in Arizona. The program is modeled after well-established programs in California and will provide the education that is needed to obtain a job in the Arizona wine industry, which is growing fast and creating employment opportunities.

Find your way to the Painted Barrels on your Smart Phone on Facebook and Foursquare pages and participate in cool contests to win prizes. All of the Painted Barrels, artist biographies, and locations can be found on www.vvwinetrail.com/painted_barrels.
